Geography of Khusrupur

With an average elevation of 52 meters above sea level, Khusrupur bears the geographical coordinates of 25.4811° N and 85.3885° E. The town is located 34 km towards East from the district headquarters of Patna. It is surrounded by Raghopur Block towards North, Nagar Nausa Block towards South, Bakhtiarpur Block towards East and Daniyawan Block towards west. The place is in the border of Vaishali district and Patna district.

The town has good road connectivity. It is located at 34 km on National Highway 30. Khusrupur and Manjhauligram are the nearby railway stations however Patna Junction is the nearest major railway station. Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna is located just 31 km from here making it easier for anyone to reach the town comfortably.

Magadhi and Hindi are the local languages spoken here. As per the census of 2011, city has a population of 15,731 of which 8,250 are males and 7,481 are females. Hindus constitute majority of the population which is close to 96% followed by Muslims as 4%. The literacy rate in Khusrupur is 72.82% which is quite higher than the state average of 61.8%. The city is divided into 10 wards for which elections are held every 5 years.

The city is well known for the ancient Baikathpur Temple. The temple is devoted to Lord Siva and is located just 3 km from the Khusrupur railway station via road. The design of the temple is a combination of both Hindu and Muslim design architectural styles. According to locals the temple exists from Mahabharata times. It is said that Magadh Emperor Jarasandh used to worship here. Later on the temple was renovated by Raja Mansingh. There used to be a saint here who always remained in boat in the water of Ganges. Today the management has constructed a huge cemented boat and a temple in saint's memory on his samadhi. There are a huge number of pilgrims who visit here every year.
